       Get Involved

Ways to get involved:

Here are some ideas on how you can contribute as a volunteer:

Donate non-perishable food items: Contribute to a food bank by donating non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, and other shelf-stable products. These donations form the backbone of food assistance programs and provide essential nutrition to those in need.

Host a food drive: Organize a food drive in your community, workplace, or school. Encourage others to contribute by setting up collection points and spreading awareness about the importance of food donations. By mobilizing your network, you can significantly increase the food collected for the food bank.

Monetary donations allow us to purchase bulk: Consider making a financial contribution to the food bank. Monetary donations allow them to purchase bulk quantities of food at discounted rates, ensuring a diverse and nutritious supply for families. Even a small donation can go a long way in making a positive impact.

Raise awareness: Help raise awareness about the issue of hunger and the work of the food bank. Share information about their programs and initiatives on social media, engage in conversations about food insecurity, and advocate for policy changes to address the root causes of hunger. By raising awareness, you can inspire others to get involved and support the cause.

Volunteer Your Time: Offer your time and skills to help at the food bank. Assist with organizing and sorting donated food, packing food boxes, or helping with distribution efforts. Your hands-on involvement can make a significant difference in ensuring a smooth operation and efficient support for families in need.

PLEASE NOTE:

At this time, we do not have any volunteer jobs available.  We consider ourselves fortunate that many in our Oakville community give their time this way.  While we don’t have anything inside the food bank, we encourage you to explore other ways to support us.  Consider an online cash donation, a food donation, or organizing a neighbourhood, school or workplace food drive.  For tips on how to run a successful food drive, check out our website: https://oakvillefoodbank.com

Another great way to show your support is to follow, like and share Fare Share on Instagram.

When we have roles, we will post the job description and application process on Volunteer Halton’s site, Volunteer Connector.  Here is the link:
